Almond Butter Cherry Protein Frozen Yogurt BitesÂ
The internet has been going off on these frozen yogurt bites, and I get it they're really freaking tasty. Plus, the don't require an expensive ice cream maker, or really any gadget for that matter. They're simple to make in one bowl, customizable with different nut butters, fruits, or mix-ins, plus they're coated in chocolate which is just.. amazing.Â
I went with an almond butter cherry flavour because I am obsessed with frozen cherries. Yes, I mean frozen. Fresh cherries are great too, but have you ever poured yourself a bowl of frozen cherries as a healthy dessert or snack?! They're like candy!! So dang delicious. Then mix that with almond butter, vanilla protein powder, yogurt, and chocolate and you're sorted for a really good pick-me-up treat or dessert.
The one thing I will say about these frozen yogurt bites is that you can't just grab one from the freezer and eat it right away, they need a little thawing time. So you have to consider this 20 minutes (can be longer too) before you're going to eat your little sweet treat. My method? Set one on the counter while I'm making and eating dinner.Â

Why You'll Love This Recipe
It's incredibly easy to make.Â
A healthy snack or dessert with a boost of protein.Â
Customizable. Use whatever nut or seed butter you like and pick your favourite fruits, or skip the fruit all together and add-in crunchy things like chocolate chips, nuts, or seeds.Â
Made from mostly whole foods!
Rich with probiotics thanks to the yogurt base.Â
What You'll Need
Plain vegan yogurt. I like coconut yogurt.Â
Vanilla protein powder. I always use Vedge Nutrition because it SLAPS with literally everything. You can shop their protein using my discount code: EVANNRYAN.
Frozen or fresh cherries.Â
Olive oil or a preferred neutral oil.Â
Substitutions
If you prefer a flavoured yogurt for a sweeter dessert, grab a vanilla yogurt instead!
Almond butter can easily be replaced with any preferred nut or seed butter.Â
Use any flavour of protein powder you like. You can also skip the protein powder completely if preferred.Â
Any fruit or mix-in.Â
You don't have to coat these in chocolate, but why wouldn't you?
Storing
Keep these in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a month!Â
KEEP IN MIND: when you want to eat one of these sweet treats you'll need to take it out of the freezer 20-30 minutes before so it can soften up.Â
Could you keep these in the fridge? Technically yes. Especially if you do a good coating of chocolate so none of the yogurt can escape. But they wouldn't be frozen yogurt would they?

Almond Butter Cherry Frozen Yogurt BitesÂ
Recipe makes 12 servings
Macros per serving:
191 cals - 11g fat - 16g carbs - 7g proteinÂ
Â
Ingredients:
- 2 cups plain vegan yogurt
- 2 scoops/servings vanilla proteinÂ
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 1 cup chopped pitted cherries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolateÂ
- 1 tbsp olive oilÂ
Â
Instructions:
- To a mixing bowl add: yogurt and vanilla protein. Whip together so it's nice and smooth.
- Add in almond butter and chopped cherries, and fold through a few times. (Personally I prefer it not mixed totally through so you get bites of almond butter.)
- Lay a parchment paper across a baking tray or large flat plate that fits into the freezer.Â
- Spoon out 12 yogurt mounds onto the prepared parchment sheet.
- Set the yogurt mounds into the freezer until firm, at least 1-2 hours.Â
- Melt the chocolate and oil together over a double broiler or in the microwave on low heat, stirring constantly.Â
- Dunk each frozen yogurt bite into the melted chocolate and use a fork to remove it from the chocolate bowl so the extra chocolate can easily drip off and through.
- Set it back on the parchment paper and if desired top with coarse sea salt.Â
- Repeat with all 12 yogurt bites.Â
- Set in the freezer for 10 minutes or until chocolate has set.
- Once the frozen yogurt bites are set you can place them in an airtight container in the freezer until ready to eat.
- Keep in mind, for best results you'll need to remove each serving from the freezer at least 20 minutes before consuming so it has time to soften.Â
- Eating it for dessert? Take it out of the freezer and set it on the counter while you eat dinner!
