White Bean Jalapeno Burgers

With burger season just round the corner it’s time to grab some buns with benefits! These Silver Hills burger buns will ramp up your next bbq or picnic, packed with sprouted grains which are easier to digest and provide sustained energy for all your summer activities!

Recipe makes 6 burgers

Macros per burger with ALL the toppings and bun:

561 cals - 21g fat - 70g carbs - 23g protein


Ingredients, burgers:

⅓ cup textured pea protein or textured vegetable protein

798 ml white beans

1 red onion, diced

1 jalapeno, diced

1 tbsp tomato paste

¼ cup nutritional yeast 

¼ cup flax meal

¼ cup bread crumbs

1 tbsp coconut sugar

1 tsp salt


1 bag Silver Hills Bakery burger buns with sesame seeds

6 slices vegan cheddar cheese

⅓ cup vegan mayo 

2 tbsp lime juice

2 tbsp hot sauce

2 cups lettuce

4-6 pickles, sliced


Recipe:

Preheat the oven to 375 F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Bring ⅓ cup water to a boil and pour over textured pea protein, set aside to soak.

Add the beans to a large mixing bowl and mash with a potato masher or your hands.

Add in remaining ingredients, including soaked tpp.

Mix everything together really well.

Shape into 6 patties and add to the prepared baking tray.

Bake for 18 minutes, flip each burger, add a slice of cheese and bake another 5-7 minutes or until browned on both sides and cheese is melted.

Aioli: to a small bowl add mayo, lime juice, and hot sauce. Mix well.

If desired, toast the buns.

Layer up your burgers with all the fixings and enjoy!
