| VEGAN BLT WITH THE BEST CRISPY SOY BACON |
So there is a Canadian store called Vegan Supply that is an all vegan grocery store and it's amazing!!! A vegan dream to be honest. What's really cool about it is they get products there that can't be found any where else in Canada. Like these Thrilling Foods Bakon Strips for instance, I have never seen them anywhere, and according to their website they're American, so I'm thinking that's why!Â
I was incredibly impressed by these. The look and texture right away had me shocked. It has those fatty bits and crispy bits, it feels textured and greasy like bacon. And then I cooked it and the grease went all over the pan, and some of it was browned and some stayed fatty, and I honestly can't believe how salty, and perfect these are for being soy. As someone who doesn't necessarily miss much in the meat department, it's pretty hard not to enjoy salty bakon. I knew immediately it needed the respect of a BLT recipe.
You can find everything at Vegan Supply from epic cheeses, bulk dairy free yogurt, candies like you couldn't imagine, unique protein sources, and tons of snacks! It's a very cool place to stop by if you live in or come to visit Vancouver, BC.Â
Some other cool things I've picked up from Vegan Supply:
Daring Foods Chicken. This is up there for some of the best vegan chicken I've ever tasted. It's only available in Vancouver at Vegan Supply so I will go there every so often to grab a bag. Unfortunately it's also very expensive there. About $12.00 a bag, and it's only a few servings. If you're in the US then I think you can grab it for a lot cheaper!
Field Roast Deli Meats. I use these sausages all the time, and they're widely available, but I had never seen the deli meat options from them before! When I went in for a visit recently I grabbed the Lentil & Sage Deli Slices and they were 10/10!
Â
Or these Juicy Marbles Steaks. While I was never much of a steak girl, my dad definitely was. (My parents are pretty vegan these days!!). But my farm boy father grew up eating meat and potatoes for every meal, so when I suggested they go more veg I was super impressed at how seamlessly he started to incorporate more vegan protein and less animal protein. So when I find products like these I send them to him as a thank you for making such a big lifestyle switch, and to hopefully get him excited about all the incredible plant-based options out there these days. Well, he loved these. He was in shock at how tasty and realistic they were. So if you're a steak missing vegan, you should definitely give these a go!

While there are about a million more products I could tell you about from Vegan Supply, I know you're here for the BLT! So let's get to cooking..Â
Â
Recipe makes 2 servings
Macros per serving:
675 cals - 35g fat - 63g carbs - 27g proteinÂ
Â
NOTE: I used 2 tbsp mayo per sandwich, and some vegan parmesan, which is why the calories are as high as they are. If you want to decrease the calories simply reduce the mayo, or switch it out completely for a lower calorie option like mustard.
Â
Ingredients:
1 package Thrilling Foods Bakon
4 slices thick sourdough, I used Cobs Flax Sourdough
1 tomato, sliced into rounds
1 cup arugula, or preferred greens
1/4 cup vegan mayoÂ
2 tbsp vegan parmesan
1 tbsp lemon juice
Â
Recipe Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 F and line a baking tray with parchment paper. You can also use a non-stick pan with no parchment, just keep in mind the bakon greases just like the real thing!
2. Remove the thrilling foods bakon from the packaging and use a sharp knife to separate the slices. If you use your hands it will like break the pieces.Â
3. Add the bakon slices to the prepared baking tray.
4. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until crispy and golden.Â
5. Toast the sourdough bread, I like to toast it twice for a nice browning.
6. Add the vegan mayo to a small bowl with the parmesan and lemon juice and whip it together until combined.Â
7. Spread the mayo on all 4 pieces of toasted sourdough.
8. Add three slices of cooked bakon to each sandwich, then top with sliced tomatoes.
9. Salt and pepper you tomatoes!
10. Then add the arugula, and seal the sandwiches.
11. For best results enjoy hot!Â
12. It is great cold too, but hot is extra special.Â
